Sunday 20th July 2025 will see the return of Carlyon Bay Golf Club’s hugely popular Charity Junior Open — and this year comes with an exciting update.
Long-time Junior Organiser Justin Williams, a passionate advocate for keeping older juniors in the game, has introduced a new category: the Cornwall U21s Medal.
Why Add a U21 Category?
Many juniors fall away from the game after turning 18, with few events left to play in. This new format aims to bridge that gap and keep young adults involved in competitive golf.
U21s Medal – Prize Breakdown
The new U21 competition will be played over 18 holes (Medal format) with a maximum handicap of 18.
🏆 £100 for Gross Winner
🥇 £75 for Nett Winner
Other Junior Competitions
The event also includes plenty of competitive formats for juniors of all abilities:
18-Hole Medal (U18) – Max 18 handicap – £100 Gross / £75 Nett
18-Hole Stableford – For handicaps 19–36 – £75 for 1st place
9-Hole Stableford – For 36+ handicaps
9-Hole Golf Access Competition
Charity Focus – Supporting Sowenna
This is more than just a competition — it’s a charity event.
All entry fees will be donated to Sowenna, Cornwall’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit, making this a meaningful day for a great cause.
