Following the high of yesterday’s convincing win over Dorset, Cornwall were edged out 8–6 by Somerset on Day 2 at Cumberwell Park.
The Duchy looked strong early on, leading 4.5 – 3.5 after the morning singles thanks to victories from Jamie Greet, Matt Richards (pictured), Tom Stephens, and Billy Downing, with Louis Archer picking up a valuable half point.
However, the momentum shifted in the afternoon foursomes. Of the four matches — each worth 1.5 points — Somerset claimed three, leaving Cornwall with just one win from the pairing of Jon Hancock & Ethan Tempest, who continued their solid form.
Up next: Tuesday’s 36-hole stroke play qualifier for the English County Finals.
