South West Week 2025 – Day 4: Tough Loss to Devon

It was a difficult day for the Cornwall Men’s team on Wednesday as they suffered a heavy 11.5 – 2.5 defeat to rivals Devon at Cumberwell Park, Wiltshire.

The morning singles brought little momentum, with the Duchy securing just two half points via Matt Richards and Billy Downing. It left Cornwall needing a clean sweep in the afternoon foursomes just to draw the match — a tall order that ultimately fell short.

The only bright spot came from Richards and Tom Stephens, who managed a 2&1 win in the foursomes.

Despite the result, Cornwall currently sit third in the South West Week matchplay table with two fixtures remaining.
